GERMANY

The registration of your trade mark can last forever. However, if you want this to happen you must renew it every 10 years.

The cost of renewing a trade mark is 750 EUR for three classes of goods or services, and 260 EUR for each extra class.

The initial term of protection of a trade mark is 10 years. You can renew it for further 10-year periods by paying the renewal fee. The renewal fees fall due on the last day of the month in which the term of protection expires. They can be paid without surcharge until the end of the second month after the due date. After that date, you can still pay the renewal fees until the expiry of the sixth month after the due date together with a surcharge for late payment. Renewal fees may be paid one year before expiry of the term of protection at the earliest.
